When Cut The Rope was released, questions came up surrounding the little green creature known as Om Nom, and maybe Cut The Rope: Experiments has the answers. In some ways, the game can be seen as a sequel, and in others, it's a spin-off from the original, but the goal is the same as it has always been. The most prominent feature is that it introduces an offscreen character known as the Professor. He seems to be observing Om Nom and is aware of your presence as he can be heard encouraging you. Every professor needs an assistant and it looks like you've been hired.

About Cut The Rope: Experiments

When you add a subtitle to a game, it's likely to draw attention to a particular aspect or to get people to think a certain way. With this game's title, you're probably thinking that there's going to be a lot of science involved. In a sense, that is very correct since the gameplay has always been based on physics. A lot of familiar elements are there, but new ones are introduced to help expand the core of the game. It maintains everything that the original game had which means there's more opportunity to play around and experiment with the new levels.

How to Play

Cut The Rope: Experiments is a 2D physics-based puzzle game that is played using just the mouse. By clicking the Left Mouse Button you can simulate tapping which is used to manipulate the various tools around the level. To swipe in order to cut things, hold the Left Mouse Button down and then drag it. The goal of each level is to get the bright candy to Om Nom's mouth with full completion coming from collecting all three stars in the level.
The main gameplay elements are physics and rope. The candy is frequently suspended using a rope that will need to be cut to move it around the level. Things like gravity and momentum influence the candy giving it more maneuverability. The levels are contained but don't have borders, so if the candy falls offscreen, it's considered lost and you'll need to restart. There are also hazards that can destroy the candy and also cause a restart.
There are a lot of returning features from the previous game such as bubbles, air cushions, and timed stars. However, this game introduces new ones such as rope guns that can target the candy, suction cups that can be placed around the level, rockets that can carry the candy, robot arms that can bend and hold the candy, ants that carry the candy around, and levels filled with water. All of these interact in various ways which is the key to getting the candy to Om Nom.

Tips and Tricks

Although timed stars are present, there's no penalty for restarting the levels. Look closely at the layout of each one and the elements that are available. They're designed to work in tandem, so you just need to figure out the order.
