Light is everywhere and yet it remains a mysterious force that travels extremely fast and cuts through the darkness as shown in God of Light. It's heavily believed that life cannot exist without some form of light and that's definitely what the game implies. In a peaceful and lush world, there are flowers blooming with life from the light of an ancient obelisk. All of a sudden, the light goes out and all the flowers begin to close. Luckily, a being of pure light known as Shiny lingers on and has the power to restore light and life to each of the flowers with the help of your input.
About God of Light
It's commonly thought the first puzzles involving reflecting light using mirrors first originated in The Legend of Zelda and then became frequent in other RPG games. What makes this game interesting is that someone saw those puzzles and thought what would happen if an entire game was based around them. Depending on the layout of the puzzle, they can be quite interesting and challenging. Navigating the beams across the area in numerous ways by being both creative and efficient provides its own reward. In the end, you get to experience a bright and soothing light show.
How to Play
God of Light is a 2D top-down puzzle game about reflecting light using the mouse. You use the cursor to navigate the level then click and hold the Left Mouse Button on the object you want to move. By dragging the mouse around you can change the direction of the beam of light. The goal of each level is to reflect Shiny's light so that it hits the Life Flower causing it to bloom. For the best score, you'll want to have the light pierce through all three light crystals scattered around the level.
All you have to manipulate is Shiny's beam of light which activates when you click on Shiny. The beam is constant, traveling in a straight line out from Shiny, only stopping when it hits an obstacle like a wall. Throughout the levels are flat flowers that act as mirrors which will bounce Shiny's light at different angles. Large mirrors can be adjusted, but small mirrors cannot. The light can hit the same mirror multiple times, cross through itself, and even pierce light crystals more than once. When the light reaches the Life Flower, click on its center to end the level.
Other gameplay elements include doors that will need to be opened by shining the light on small circular flowers on the level, rotating structures with multiple mirrors, crystals that change the color of the light, crystals that shoot out their own beams of light that can reflect Shiny's, and black holes that cause the light to bend.
If you get stuck, Fireflies will be introduced later on. When available, you can select them from the top right corner of the screen. You can then click and drag them around the level in order to light up the path that the light beam should take. Fireflies have a limited counter, but it can be increased by shining the light beam on those that you find in levels.
Tips and Tricks
Think back to your early days of mathematics because this game is all about angles. You need to make sure Shiny's light is hitting mirrors at the best angle so that you can fully reflect and refract it with full range. If not, your light beam can be interrupted halfway through.
