Various websites are full of ads depicting games that are rarely as they are advertised which is why Gun Fest is refreshing. Oddly enough, this game is most like all those strange ads being very clear and direct in its execution. You are someone who has a handgun and has been sent to shoot down some bank robbers. They've started to make their getaway but you've managed to catch up to them. Although you may be alone, you have the power of mathematics to strengthen your gun and rain down across the numerous bank robbers and other obstacles that stand in your way.
About Gun Fest
As far as shooting games go, this one is simple enough that you could theoretically give it to anyone and they'd be able to master it within a few minutes. Games are all over the difficulty curve with some looking as if they're made for professionals, but this game is made for everybody. It's a game that kind of has an arcade feel and you can play in almost any situation since the inputs are so simple. Because of that, it can be hard to put it down because you just want to keep playing and see just how long you can keep your winning streak going.
How to Play
Gun Fest is a 3D linear shooting game about going after robbers and doing math using the mouse. It operates on slide controls, so click and hold the Left Mouse Button on the gun and slide it back and forth to move it. The gun will fire automatically in a straight line from wherever it's positioned. The goal is to reach the finish line at the end of the level by collecting enough firepower.
You start each level with a single pistol firing constantly. As you progress, you'll come across colored barriers that can alter your gun in different ways. The blue barriers will increase your firepower by multiplying your current guns or adding more to your arsenal. The red barriers will lower your firepower through division and subtraction. Orange barriers are random with the chance to be good or bad.
Going through the level will have you encounter three types of obstacles: Robbers, Barrels, and Walls. Robbers are the weakest, standing individually and being taken out with minimal shots and dropping money as a result. Barrels appear in rows and have numbers on them indicating the number of shots needed to destroy them. Walls are similar but have just one big number that you need to shoot down to zero. Occasionally there will be a large boss enemy that acts similar to a wall and will move to block your path. If you ever collide with any obstacle, it's game over and you'll need to restart.
At the end of each level will be the bank robbers' truck which will also have a number on it. If you're fast enough and have enough firepower, you can shoot to destroy it to earn yourself a big cash bonus.
Tips and Tricks
Since the good and bad math is color-coded, you'll be able to plot out your movements in advance. If you have trouble seeing colors, always try to spot the mathematics symbols first. Orange barriers are worth the risk when you have little firepower otherwise they are best avoided.
