The post-apocalypse may be a more popular setting for video games than any other and you're plunged into it once again in Noback. Whatever caused the world to end in this game, it's forced a lot of humans to live underground. This way of living might be keeping people safe from what's on the surface, but the underground has its share of dangers. You can't let that scare you off though since your sister Mary is counting on you to find her. You're not the best-equipped guy for the job but you're built to think and survive which can be enough to carry you through the darkness.

Sometimes a post-apocalyptic world doesn't need you to ask a lot of questions, it provides a setting and you can fill in the blanks yourself. In Noback, it's clear that radiation plays a huge role considering how the main character is dressed. The fact that most of the game takes place underground implies that it's not only a common location in this world, but also one that seems preferable to what's outside. These are only some of the mysteries you'll investigate in your search for Mary and you can find your answers as you do so. Just remember that your courage can only do so much and you'll need your brain to protect you.
How to Play
Noback is a pixelated top-down exploration game about searching a series of underground tunnels using the keyboard.
Controls
- W - Move Up
- S - Move Down
- A - Move Left
- D - Move Right
- Spacebar – Attack
Your goal is to navigate the tunnels safely in hopes of finding your sister Mary. All you have is a torch to light some of the way and your natural intuition. As you make progress, the hero will make comments about what he senses. He'll move at a constant jog pace which is thankfully fast enough to outrun enemies. Their torch is just bright enough to light up a section of the hero's current position and can be used to peer around corners.
Despite the scenario and your character's situation, this is not a combat game. You're quite vulnerable in the underground where there are vicious creatures just waiting for you to come into their field of view. When you have a weapon, you can defend yourself though this comes at a great risk. You need to focus more on exploration and collecting objects to unlock different parts of the underground. If a monster catches you or does too much damage, it's game over and you'll need to start from the last checkpoint.
Tips and Tricks
The game provides very little feedback and tests your memory to make progress. When playing, have some paper nearby and outline the path that you take. There are plenty of dead ends that you don't want to get stuck in. If you see an enemy in the distance, be sure to have an escape route if you aren't prepared to fight.
