Some games appear so basic that it makes you wonder what the inspiration behind them is and Red is Dead is mysterious in that sense. Getting past the blunt and heavy title, it also functions as instructions on how to play the game. There's not a lot of fanfare or messing around when it comes to playing the game and getting a high score. You're working within the limitations of the game's rules and the game itself. The longer you play, the more limitations appear and therefore the more careful you'll have to be with smaller and sharper movements to stay alive.
About Red is Dead
Just because a game is simple doesn't mean it's not fun or challenging and this game manages to brush against both of these labels. It can be a very addictive game that will draw you in the more you play. It can start casual but as the obstacles multiply you keep asking yourself whether or not you can keep your streak going. You start looking for paths and retracing steps as you try to collect anything that isn't red. If you do get eliminated, you should be able to get back to where you left off within a few minutes.
How to Play
Red is Dead is a 2D obstacle course game that is contained within a designated region and can be played with the mouse or keyboard. For the former, click and hold on the large white circle with the Left Mouse Button and then drag it around to move it. For the latter, just use the Arrow Keys to move it around. The goal is to collect as many smaller circles as possible.
Within the game area, you move the large circle around the space. Move it into the small circles to collect them and increase your score. With each circle that you collect, more red circles about the same size will start appearing around the space. If you come into contact with one at any time, you'll be dead and will have to start again. To help deal with the increasing number of red circles, you can collect the occasional blue circle that appears. When you do, you'll gain temporary protection that will let you remove red circles by running into them.
Tips and Tricks
First off, you should opt for the mouse controls as it's much sharper and more precise, but be careful with the speed of it. When more red circles show up, use the blue circle power-up to carve openings in areas where red circles are groupìng together.
